just a quick question for diehard (or anyone else who can answer)

i am loooking at getting a motherboard that fits my needs.. yes its a pc not a mac..
but it lacks a parallel port (IEEE 1284)
after a quick search last night i saw parallel port addon cards that are pci 32bit
aswell as pci-e cards etc

my question is..
has anyone had experience using pc "parallel" midi interfaces with these types of addon cards?
do they integrate into the bios sort of like a scsi raid card would?

ive never used one before and ive always had to set ECP or EPP mode for compatibility with my midi interface
which is the main reason im asking..
the motherboard im looking at doesnt have a parallel port obviously but has alot of other features that i want
such as firewire + intel matrix raid support

Some of the USB stuff only work as output instead of IN/OUT needed for that stuff.

If you have free pci slots, I would buy a PCI card. That for sure can I/O.

yea i was leaning towards the pci-e or pci 33mhz addon cards
but while looking into it i saw the usb ones.... i figured they wouldnt be 100%
anyways..

still hoping to here from someone who has ever used an addon parallel port in a pc..
i know the built in ports have to be in a certain mode to accept the motu midi time piece
(ECP vs EPP, 1.7 vs 1.9)
so i have no idea how u would set these settings on the addon card.. unless it
somehow integrated with the bios or a config screen on startup boot?
