OS 9.2.2 resolution/aspect ratio problem
« on: October 29, 2014, 02:12:51 PM »
Dear all,

I have my PowerBook G4 Ti 1.0 GHz hooked up to an external monitor. I cannot for the life of me get OS 9.2.2 to fit both the resolution and aspect ratio of my 24" BenQ monitor. The only apparent 16:9 resolution available in the OS's display settings is 1920x1080, which is also the native resolution of my display. When I select this resolution, however, it squashes the image into a smaller viewing area (16:10 perhaps?). Does anyone know how to fix this?

use switchres for both, OS9 and OSX.

also, just in case: dont use 15 years old analog cables with new monitors or the communication might fail. if you connect analog, use the cables coming with your flat panel.

Apple PowerBook G4 1.0 (Ti) Specs
Quote
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 64 MB DDR SDRAM (4X AGP).
15.2" color widescreen TFT active-matrix display with a 1280 by 854 native resolution. Apple reports that it also supports "1152 by 768, 896 by 600, 720 by 480, and 640 by 480 at 3:2 aspect ratio; [and] 1024 by 768, 800 by 600, and 640 by 480 at 4:3 aspect ratio".
External Max Resolution:
The maximum resolution supported on an external display is 2048x1536 at millions of colors.

1) Are you connecting the External using the the DVI Port (with no adapters) and a Stock DVI cable from the PowerBook to the LED ?

2) Areyou trying to use Both the external and the internal simultaneously ad an extended desktop (or mirrored) or are you using Just the external

Thanks for the advice, everyone. I was using a DVI to d-sub adapter. The problem was resolved when I switched to DVI to DVI.
