ive just reviewed the ibook series on everymac.com
i had thought that there was an ibook g4 that was able to boot mac os 9
but apparently not.
do we have any ibook owners?
my first question,
is there much physical difference physically
between an ibook g3 900mhz + an ibook g4?
they look pretty much identical without a close comparison view

ibook g4
ibook g3
are they different only by cpu?
The iBook G4 models look similar to the previously released iBook "G3" models, but internally, the computers are very different. The iBook G4 systems use the faster PowerPC "G4" processor -- as one would expect given the name -- but also have a faster motherboard design with a faster system bus, support for faster RAM, faster hard drive support, and faster graphics capabilities. The iBook G4 models also have USB 2.0 ports and support for AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and Bluetooth 1.1 (although neither AirPort Extreme or Bluetooth were pre-installed).
guess that answers that.
Unlike previous iBook models, no iBook G4 systems are capable of booting MacOS 9. These systems are capable of running MacOS 9 applications in the "Classic Environment" within MacOS X.
interesting that these machines can be patched to 'extended desktop' on the video out
