I f***ing love this system!
« on: September 18, 2014, 05:21:28 AM »

Just wanted to rant about OS9 and Logic for a bit.
I have never ever used any system that sets my creativity free like Mac OS 9.2.2 and Logic 4/5/6 does.
It's an amazing system and I love it to bits.

Have spent most of the day with my PowerBook G4 Titanium 1ghz with 1gb RAM. It's the ultimate portable Logic system. Wonderful to work with in every way. I just wish that I had an SSD in it instead of the slow original drive it's using right now.

Also, It would be wonderful if there would be some kind of dongle emulator, or some way to mount the USB dongle internaly in the 'Book. Since it's on the back side, it sometimes get's strange when I use it in my lap on the sofa ;).

Lastly im attaching a screenshot of a song im working on in Logic Pro 6.4.3.

What a wonderful system!  -afro-

99% of this music style is plain crap, but you can make arts out of everything if you know how to.
there once was a guy on jamendo who had some 20 minutes long tracks with quite interesting progresses, hard at the border between evolving and remaining repetive. see if i can find it back...

Would any of you happen to have a Logic 3 or 4 ADB dongle for sale/trade? I have a 9-pin serial Logic 4 Platinum dongle I could swap for it. Actually I could also trade an XS Key for it. I'll have to buy one again but the ADB one is more important so I won't mind.

I do alot of different types of music. I mainly produce "classic" rock and pop. This is just to use a different part of my brain for a while ;).

I agree that 99% are crap, but Gabber and other hard dance music it's a part of my youth. I used to DJ alot back in the days, and Gabber was among the music genres I played :)

House is still the main genre played at the clubs here.
I don't really like the new "wave your fist in the air" house. Like Nause, Avicii etc.
Some tracks are ok of course. I was more into harder stuff and still is ;). Like Gabber, hands up etc.

This is the type of shit I do when Im fed up with all the rock and pop:

Don't you love all the 90's colors 3D effects ;)

The best Pop song ever made:
Toto's Africa,

The best Techno song ever made:
kraftwerk's Electric Cafe.

The best Funky song ever made:
Earth Wind and Fire: Let's Groove

The best Love song ever made:
Christopher Cross: Best That You Can Do.

The best Classic song ever made:
Beethoven's 9 symphony.

... and none are mine :(

House... house... umm...

Kraftwerk makes wonderful music. I saw them a few months ago at Dalhalla here in Sweden.
Amazing 2 hour show with 3D graphics and surround sound  -afro-

I love logic 4/5/6 on OS9. Learning to do all logic 5 functionality on protools cost me 4-6 years, and still OS9 LOGIC is more quick on some things than Protools 9 realtime bounce, for example.
Best DAW ever!
With just the included plugs on logic 4 you can make MIRACLES.

174 bpm sounds not unfamiliar to me, but in 1990 it was not possible to pigeon-hole these things as "gabba" or something like that.

and unlike the netherlands, in belgium and germany there was and is always something like a melody in a song.

i couldnt find the other one i was talking above yet, so i am starting with one my own for now. :)

I use, have used and I had to use a lot of SO... and I love Mac Os 9 much more each passing day. I love his simplicity as the best kind of power.

I have used Logic in the 68k era. The version 3.x don't need dongle not emulated  ;) The 3.x for 68k was stunning fast. The audio engine and the graphics engine were way faster than Cubase in this time. But the same 3.x version for PPC lost this advantage ¿?, and  I've been Cubase user since this time...
