Chris,

We have Spark 1.5 (but it needs a challenge & response code)... we also have the Spark Modular 1.6 Update (with some great plugins); the plugins can be used even if the main app is not authorized

Spark was made by TC Works (Basically TC Electronics software company).  TC Works is now closed... no more software development. It was an incredible product and one of the main programmers, Stefano Daino, heads his own company in Italy and made a new program DSP-Quattro (Basically Spark for OS X on Steroids).

Many Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X Users have switched from defunked Wave burner to DSP Quattro... note how similar, but more modern, it looks like Spark

DSP-Quattro existed for Mac Os 9. I have a demo :'( of version 2.

The "Spark FX Machine" (what you pictured on your last post) and "Spark Instrument Machine" were part of "Spark Modular"…

Spark Modular also had other plugins included and the reason that the software was named "Spark Modular" was that you could build your own virtual synth in a "Modular" fashion with infinite combinations and possibilities…

Quote
TC's Spark Modular is an add-on package that works with TC's existing, Mac-only Spark or Spark XL editing software to provide analogue-style virtual synth building blocks, which can be combined like a build-your-own synth kit.

Read this… http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep00/articles/tcspark.htm

Now as far as the Spark Program itself… it was one of the best 2-track (Stereo) Editors / Mastering Tools ever made for OS 9.  It is kind of like  "Wavelab" for OS 9 and then some.  It supports VST plugins that can be applied online (in real-time) or offline (applied in any order in a batch mode); so with a minimal Mac (as far as CPU power) you could process tons of audio files with tons of effects/mastering tools; as long as you knew what the results would yield.

See this: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul01/articles/tcspark.asp

Quote
TC's 'new and improved' Spark XL v2.0 is a stereo editing package for Macintosh computers, intended for sound design, track editing, album editing, MP3 file encoding, multi-effects processing, mastering and audio CD production

This was an extremely efficient way to handle many audio files.  For example, let's say you had 12 live tracks for a project that were all too noisy, and the project was 5 songs (60 tracks total); you could de-noise all 60 tracks in "batch" offline mode without having to load and apply FX and save interactively.

Quote
powerful batch converter that can convert AIFF, SDII, WAV and MP3 source files to AIFF, SDII, WAV and MP3 destinations, routing the audio through one VST plug-in (or complete FXmachine preset) on the way. This makes it possible to do things like convert, level-maximise and EQ your audio all in one pass.

Aslo the realtime editing features were extensive… cutting, crossfading, etc.

What were the differences between Spark and Peak at that time too?

Couldn't Peak do that as well?

That's Bias Peak.
