By the way, according to "Read Me" file, this CD is for "..all Power Mac G4 systems (with either PCI or AGP graphics)", not only for Sawtooth. -ssp3
That’s interesting. Always on the lookout for other diagnostic tools. Given time, might have to test with Gigabit Ethernet (the next resurrection on my list), the Digital Audio machines AND perhaps even a Quicksilver.
However, there might be one little pesky caveat…

Black Netac SSD:
The first 8.6 installation partition on a Netac here was Mac OS Standard (HFS).
The second partition was also the same Mac Standard (HFS) for OS 9.
Third partition, Mac OS Extended (HFS+) for Tiger 10.4.11.
This approach allowed easy booting between the first two partitions
back and forth… but once booted into Tiger, selecting either of first
two partitions to reboot, would boot back into the opposite OS of what
was selected. Choosing OS 9, got OS 8.6. Choose OS 8.6 ya got the
machine booting back into OS 9. AND then whichever it didn’t boot into
…that System Folder was grayed out and needed to be re-blessed, in
order to boot back into it afterwards as part of this bizarre little dance.
For the subsequent,
Red Netac… the first and second partitions were
formatted Mac OS Extended and the third, Journaled (HFS+).
But this MTP states that it can’t test the Extended Directory Structures.
(No reason not to run it for its’ other tests — and no more dancing!)
With the Red Netac as formatted, easy booting between all 3 partitions
and all three different operating systems. (TMI?)
One should also check Garden's other MTP disc images for their bootability.
I do have some more originals. If needed, I can copy others too. -ssp3
https://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=7738.0;attach=16234;imageThanks. Most of the downloads that I tried / burned / tested — were from the Garden’s collection and as you said…
If you save the CD as volume, the drivers are left out. That might be the Gardens’ case. (See Reply #4 above, in this thread for those versions that I did try.) And sure, if you’d care to prep and upload other versions of MTP that you have, I could burn and test them as well (before I finally move these Sawtooth machines from my living room and reclaim the space).
Compared to the old Quadra 950 that I ran for years (and the persnickety G3 Blue and Whites) the Sawtooth now seems blisteringly fast. I might keep one.
