Hey guys, won't an XS Key validate all previous versions of Logic? I think I'll have to switch back to Logic 4 for my 9600 system on OS8.6 and I'm wondering if an XS Key will work to authorize it.

hey syntho theres a special dongle usb driver for that purpose but its much easier to just use the dongle emulator and free up a usb port;)

using the driver will allow u to use a blue/white xskey to launch logic 4.x i think it only works for v4 but i may be wrong it may support 3 aswell.. but i doubt it, but it doesnt really matter because we have the working dongle emulator for all v4.81 + lower

did u actually find a 9600 already?

Yeah Chris, I think 4.8 was the max version for the emulator,

On our download, it says 5.x is a no go

yep funny how these details slip away over time.. thats why this forum is so clutch

they must have changed something about the dongle for 5.0 + the introduction of the blue emagic USB xskeys, i think i have a 5.0 serial dongle for PC hiding somewhere over here. grey plastic with the black/blue sticker

Thank you all for your help. I have installed Logic 5 on OS 9. I used Dongle Emu, but when I try to start Logic, a warning saying "Wrong system data" appears and it closes. I moved the XS Key Driver to Extensions, but the XS Key may have been from Logic 4. Is there any solution?

That's a no-go...

Also Includes Dongle Emulator ! (Use logic without a hardware dongle)
(dongle emulator does not work for v5.x + v6.x)

But you have a few choices...

1) Use 4.x found here
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,811.0.html

2) emagic microLogic AV Versions 4.1.2, 4.5.1 and 4.8.1
This is the less capable version of emagic Logic (Maximum of 16 Audio Tracks and 8 Instruments)
NO dongle emulator or XS Key is needed !
