PowerBook 1400cs Suddenly Stopped Working
« on: December 22, 2020, 09:55:48 AM »

Please help…

My PowerBook has not had any problems. I tried booting it last night and it made a strange garbled chime and never turned on the screen. Nothing happened. I tried unplugging everything, including the battery, overnight and booting without the battery this morning and nothing. When I plug it in the green light comes on but other than that - nothing.

I hope I haven’t somehow killed this machine.  :-[

I have several other computers and I’ve never had one break randomly like this.

Update:

I just had to reset the PMU. I am soooo happy it wasn’t anything serious. Leaving this solution up in case anyone needs it later.

(PS: to reset the PMU plug the computer in and hold the reset button in the I/O panel down for about 10 to 20 seconds. I didn’t even know there was a reset button there haha)
