does anyone have any experience using this as a fileserver to serve files to a few client macs from a server mac?

i havent tried it, but im thinking the performance might be really good over gigabit ethernet!

hopefully its not that complicated to install + set up

I use it at home on an older G4 tower server. 
7 clients, but never more than three at a time. I am the only user so it only gets the three clients when I am working on something between several systems.
I have had no issues.
Can't speak of the gigabit.
For my needs it works.
