PowerMac G5 went bang -- advice please
« on: September 10, 2025, 09:35:08 PM »

20 year old power supply finally had enough and gave up. That little guy is a "TOPSwitch-GX Family
Extended Power, Design Flexible, EcoSmart, Integrated Off-line Switcher". $5.76 from DigiKey. I can't say I know what made it fail like that. Dried up caps maybe? There's no signs of burning or anything anywhere else on the supply.

Has anybody here had a G5 PSU blow up and gone through a repair on it? I'm going to give it a crack so any advice would be appreciated.
