Hi everyone, i'm facing some strange behaviour in my beige g3 after i've replaced the old mechanical hard drive with an SD Adapter to IDE and a Samsung SDXC card.
Briefly when i try to work on big files or large amounts of them (especially copy operation in finder, same work made from vise installer go fine) the thing tend to stuck forcing me to restart the machine.
In a first time i thought it was the old hard drive next to death but i've seen the same thing when working only on SD and when i try to copy these big files in ram disk.
Shortly i think it's ram fault but i need to test it, possibly on this machine not on another one like pc with memtest. Do you know some useful test suite for this system ? Thank u

I've found and tried Techtool Pro and he says ram is ok so i must look in storage area...

verbose RAM test is available in OSX (if you have that installed, too), otherwise we should have the apple hardware test (AHT) CDs for some G4 models somewhere around here.

I know this is maybe stupid, but I have to ask: how big are the "big files" you want to copy?  Are we talking 10 MB or 1 GB? 30 files or 3000?

- Bolkonskij, who grew up with a Mac LC & 4 MB of RAM and sometimes had to copy folder contents in small pairs because there wasn't enough RAM to copy all files from a folder to another without getting the family's LC to go out of RAM / freeze.

What OS are you using? I know that OS 8 does some weird things with adapters and SSDs, if you're not already on 9.2.2 you could try that.
