Powerbook G3 Resolution
« on: May 31, 2023, 07:24:34 AM »

Hey all,

I have a Powerbook G3 Wallstreet (M4753) with a 300 MHz processor running 9.2.2.  For some reason, I only have one screen resolution available: 1024x768.  The system won't let me change resolutions manually to a lower resolution, neither can I do it with the SwitchRes application.  Whenever I run something like a game that plays at 640x480 (i.e. most of them), instead of resizing the screen, it plays as a tiny square in the center of the screen surrounded by black borders.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with the OS, the hardware, the firmware or something else.  The GPU seems to be functioning properly, rendering graphics at the expected level of performance.  It just seems weird to me that a GPU capable of rendering things at a higher resolution is incapable of switching to a lower resolution.

Anyone have this issue or have any tips on how I might troubleshoot/fix it?
