So, I just replaced the 40GB drive I had put in it because I thought it might have failed but it turns out that it may have been the optical drive that failed. I tried to boot from my external optical drive because it works on my eMac (and I ripped the old combo drive from it to put in a second hard drive) but it doesn't seem to work on the iBook. I was wondering if there were any upgrade options for it? I would be nice to be able to read DVDs on it rather than just reading CDs.

On a side note, I've replaced the old battery and the charging board on the laptop and it still doesn't function from the battery. I've reset the PMU several times with no success. It looks like that it can see that there's a battery plugged into it but won't charge it or use it. I think its fully charged because in the brief instances that it does show the battery, it says 100%. Its not a big deal if its something I can't repair, s'not like I really take it anywhere. xD
