« Last post by Bo_Star on July 12, 2019, 10:36:41 AM »
I know Installer in Mac OS X has the option to Uninstall Some Software and Clean My Mac Has a uninstaller To remove an App aand it's related software. "But is there a Software like That on OS 9"? Sometime System Extentions Conflict. and I dont want to Hunt down Conflicting Software Tha I may not be using.
Thanks Waeshael I'll try it out

OK so I installed OMS and (to those who know I'm sure they are not surprised) it seems that OMS still only wants to talk to serial / printer ports, not USB.  Maybe there is a USB capable version that would see it?

Freemidi saw OMS installed and so did D-Sound but they still don't see the MIDIExpress and MTP AV.
Photo/Image/Graphics Viewing & Editing / PS to LP transfer for using PS filters
« Last post by Waeshael on July 12, 2019, 02:32:25 AM »
LP pictures can be opened in PS 3 to 5 versions, and then PS filters can be used to modify the picture which is then exported back to LP. Or you can export the LP file as a TIFF file, apply PS filters using any version, then convert back to IVUE format to do more editing. Many examples of this are at go to the select a member frame and type in WAESHAEL
example here using a swerve filter
Maybe it was Longer then I rember =/   Maybe it was My IIvx ......... Thx

yea that's me.  i saw hardware sampler section and thought maybe it might catch new eyes.  So D-Sound installed but it's needing OMS so I'm going to have to figure that out.  The software seems so old that it doesn't recognize USB.. maybe OMS will fix that.  the software is talking printer ports and clock speeds which I get but my MIDI interfaces are USB and my quicksilver doesn't have any printer / serial ports on it so I'm not sure this software will do the trick.  I'm going to get OMS installed though and dig deeper..

I ran into this problem with my Peavey SP editor.  However IIRC, it too had an OMS version so maybe this is a vital part of the usb midi bridge for this kind of software.
Browsers, FTP, & Remote Control / Re: What browser works in OS 9.1 ?

so I just got my Quicksilver Mac online using a repeater (brilliant solution suggested on this forum) and I'm of course running IE5 out of the box.  so classilla is the latest browser available for it?  I've never heard of it.

I don't expect to be doing everything I would on a modern computer, but I did hope I could at least run the Mac OS 9 Lives forum, which wouldn't work (even when I clicked the link for OS Classic users.  got some kind of gateway error or something.  However google worked so I know I'm talking to the internet in general.
yea i decided to not pull the trigger on that system.  the seller did later on actually install OS9 (owner didn't have any OS disks and I shared with him this fine community and OS9 resources) and I think it checked out.  I went from a 450mhz sawtooth to a 867 quicksilver and while it wasn't the nearly x2 boost in overhead i'd have liked looking at raw CPU clock speeds it was at least 25% faster and that was fine for the money spent.  $25.. vs. like $300 for that Mirror mac.  if a mirror mac comes along for cheap enough I'll migrate again.

those are some great stats to compare systems.  I'm happy to say the IDE bridge to SSD worked out really well.  I still need to install the quieter fan but it's not a high priority right now.  I have the part I just need to psyche myself up to get deeper into the machine to swap out fan and I imagine in the process replace the CPU thermal paste (which i have some from another repair job).  I'm going to stick with the 867mhz cpu.  It is showing more CPU headroom with plugins in Digital Performer 3 which was nice to see, but i wouldn't say it's as 1:1 in improvement moving from the 450mhz sawtooth.  feels like maybe 25% faster, but the cpu clock speed is almost twice as fast, but at the price I paid for it, it was still time/money well spent.
Video Capturing & Editing Software / Re: iMedia 100

yea when I bought this unit it came with x2 16gb external SCSI2 hard drives.  They work, but loud..  I wondered if getting a second internal SSD might be sufficient.  I know it's not ideal but between the storage, compactness and overall quiet, it would be fine.

That VHS deck looks sick though.  My analog senses and interest in making videos that are deliberately old looking makes me want to go this route.  I have a basic VHS / DVD combo that can record but it's nothing like this unit with frame by frame advancing and such.  However I'm still just getting my OS9 music studio optimized right now so video is taking a backseat.  The big thing was making sure it works fully and it does..   I still have to figure out a few things with Media 100 like how to do cross fades but I'll come back to it when it's time to really make videos.
