Title: Mac OS 9 doesn't see floppies

I have a Power Macintosh 7200 with System 7 and Mac OS 9 installed. System 7 can see floppies and knows when I put one in. Mac OS 9 freezes up when I put one in. It's not the disk. I've tried a bunch of them. I can force quit finder, but it never shows floppies. What's going on?

That is strange behavior. I use Mac OS 9 all the time to write floppies for my IIci and it works well. But I use a Mac Mini G4 and a cheap external USB disk drive. Do you have Macsbug installed (http://system7today.com/macsbug101)? I suppose not - try installing it and let's have a look what it says when that happens.
