Title: Hello from Cyberdog!
Post by: crimsonRE on January 11, 2026, 07:03:41 PM
Let's see if this works...I am attempting to post this using the first web browser that Apple
released: Cyberdog; this is the last, ver. 2 (April 1997)...and it's really a suite, in that it
is also an FTP, email(POP)/USENET, telnet, and Gopher client. And everything still works
pretty decently! This is running on a beige 266MHz G3 desktop under OS 9.2.
And me - I've been using computers since the late 70's (KIM-1, Apple ][, PDP-11/23,
Heathkit H-19 & H-11). Began using the original Macintosh in late 1984 in college - I
still have the disks, stuff back to System file 3.x & Finder version something. Seeing
the (awful) Intel/MS hegemony coming on, I collected a bunch of workstations as they were
being cast off - NeXT, SGI, Sun SPARCstations, 68k & PPC Macs - that now inhabit my
basement Computing Cave (and keep it cozy warm)...so all UNIX-alikes or MacOS. None of
the MicroS**T...

I am a big fan of Cyberdog and OpenDoc in general. I do enjoy its many abilities for network stuff.

It is the prime reson I still make use of the Classic MacOS. I am currently working on a "Tiger" based machine using "Classic" to access Cyberdog, Wav, Corda apps. I would not say I think these apps are top notch apps, but overall I enjoy the workflow they provide.
