Would this PSU be suitable for my old G4: "High Power Plus Semi Modular Power Supply PSU 650w HP-650-G14C"

The Mac PSU's have a different pinout compared to standard ATX PSU's. The best way forward would be to make an adapter of a 24pin ATX extender to use with a standard ATX PSU.

Check out http://atxg4.com/ for pinout and instructions. They might even still sell the correct adapter for your machine (if you live in the US).
