Hi there, so I have been using Pro Tools 5 LE with a Mac G4 Tower. I have the interface with the special SATA cable that makes it so Pro Tools allows it. I had to buy two interfaces to get the cable, its impossible to find.
Thing is, the tower has run out of space completely, and its really old and doesnt work well.
I have SheepShaver on a desktop iMac from 2014 with Pro Tools 5 LE, but the SATA cable doesn't connect to the iMac because its all USB now, unless there is a way I dont know of.
Has anyone found a workaround to having the interface plugged in to open Pro Tools 5 LE?

There's no workaround. ProTools doesn't know how to output sound except to its own interfaces.
By SATA, I'm assuming you mean Firewire? You can get adapters to connect your old interface to newer computers (firewire to thunderbolt), but I don't think they will work with the emulator.

Does he mean the digi 001 pci card, cable and breakout box (interface)
-
You cant emulate Protools 5 LE, but you could run Protoold Free or Protools 3.4 without hardware

Yeah, thats what I meant.
To the people saying use Pro Tools free, I already have all these project files that I made in Pro Tools LE. Can I open these in the free version?
-
Only 8 tracks
-
Okay, but they are the same type of project file? It will still open yeah?
-
Yes. And you Will see all tracks, but only 8 voices at the same time

Right on, thanks for your help! :)

When it launches the DAE in the emulator, it freezes and I have to restart the entire computer. Any advice?
-
Okay I have now tested both Pro Tools Free 3.4 and Pro Tools Free 5.1 and neither can launch the DAE in SheepShaver. Any ideas how to get it to launch? I know it can be done
