Title: Hola!

Hey there. Having grown up in what was essentially Steve Jobs' backyard, you can imagine how ubiquitous Macs were for me, especially at school.

Our Performa 6400 tower at home never ran OS 9 -- we just stuck with the bundled 7.5.3 until we got ourselves a lampshade iMac, which came with OS X. But at school, Bondi Blue iMac G3s were absolutely everywhere, and I absolutely loved them. I was 9 or 10 years old when OS 9 first hit store shelves, and I thought it was just so, so cool.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I've been fine-tuning my SheepShaver-on-Linux setup and actually getting quite a bit of mileage out of it. I don't have any vintage Apple hardware anymore, but this will do for now.

So yeah, just wanted to say hi, and I'm glad to see that a community like this is actually thriving!

Welcome to Mac OS 9 Lives! Very kind words about our small community. We hope to grow a bit with focus on quality Mac OS 9 -centric content.

Welcome from me too!

Emulators are a great way to serve some nostalgia, but once you run into the "can't do this, can't do that" you'll want some real hardware. It just feels more authentic, too. Somewhere out there is a Mac Mini G4 with your name on it ... ;-)

Welcome! Hope you will find something that you like here. :)

We all can relate to the coolness of the OS!

The "easy way" to get real hardware definitely is the Mac mini G4 like @Bolkonskij hinted at... But I'm glad Sheepshaver is good enough for you for now.
