Title: exploring the most advanced *PCI* GRAPHIC CARDS
Post by: supernova777 on February 13, 2014, 04:24:42 AM
THE QUeSTION IS: DO ANY OF THESE MORE MODERN PCI CARDS WORK INSIDE A POWERMAC G4? for either os X or os 9?

curious about this card as ive found that it exists but not found it references positively or negatively anywhere else
ATI Radeon HD2400 PRO *PCI* from december 2007/early 2008
RV610 GPU chip

http://www.gpureview.com/radeon-hd-2400-pro-pci-card-561.html
found this card its PCI not AGP
i wonder if this would work in a G4 as it has 525mhz core clock
6gb/s mem thruput!

forgot to mention its for sale for 8 dollars too lol

on the same topic of more recent modern PCI based adapters
heres another
GF108 fermi GPU chip from 2010

remember there was a geforce 6 series PCI card too
using    NV43 gpu chip
Geforce 6200 PCI
(http://www.evga.com/products/images/gallery/256-P1-N400-LR_XL_1.jpg)

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007708%20600007853&IsNodeId=1&name=PCI
they still sell this 6200 pci card!! even to this day..
other models still for sale **IN PCI FORMAT** (not pci-express):

quick look at some facts of the other "PCI" cards for sale on newegg:
Geforce FX5200,    NV34 @ 250 MHz, 6.4GB/sec
Geforce 6200, NV43 @ 300Mhz, 8.8 GB/sec
radeon X1300, RV515 @ 450 MHz, 8 GB/sec
Geforce 8400GS, G84 @ 567 MHz, 5.328 GB/sec
Geforce 9400GT,    G96 @ 550 MHz, 25.6 GB/sec
Geforce GT210, ? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187211
Geforce GT610, ?
radeon HD5450, "Cedar" @650 MHz, ?

if these Fx5200, + 6200 PCI cards are known to work in powermac g4's for mac osx
whats to stop them from running these other newer cards?

here http://compareindia.in.com/specification/graphic-cards/zotac-geforce-gt520-pci-x1/252742
is a GT520 @ 800mhz clock!

Quadro FX 600 PCI *DUAL DVI ON A PCI GFX CARD*

NV34 gpu @ 275MHz, 7.85gb/s (qualifies for core image/quartz extreme i think? slightly better then an FX5200)

apparently the 9250 agp is the exact same as the 9250 PCI spec wise
