There's an overwhelming amount of information here and I have so little time to read, so excuse the overlap in this thread.
In my main 9600 I have a Sonnet Tempo TSATA card which has two internal SATA ports on it. It can boot your OS and works all the way down to System 7. The thing is absolutely flawless. But I just took a look, and turns out there aren't any of these things for sale. They're nowhere to be found. I'll be using this card until it stops working, so I need to come up with a gameplan for what I'll do in the future when it stops working.
It's either I stick with SATA or I go for some IDE drives. What do you think would be better, and are there any replacements for the Sonnet Tempo TSATA card that works in 9600s? Note that unlike the Sonnet Tempo card I have now, I actually DON'T need it to be bootable. I run SCSI drives for that. This is for storage and recording only.

...or an PCI ATA card with SATA adapters. internal IDE is probably too slow and of course not 48LBA

There's no internal IDE in 9600 ;)

yeah, of course.
i thought i edited the post already? i wanted to say: or try using a PCI IDE card with small SATA adapters.
and btw. i noticed that the 1s2 is in between no longer for sale. you can still try asking them, they also sell refurbished and second hand stuff as i heard.

This first link is of interest. Not that I'm using it this way, but can it boot an OS? Also, most importantly, will it work on a 9600? These are discontinued as well so I hope there are some laying around somewhere.
EDIT: I see none of these for sale for sale either.

it is basically the same card & firmware as your sonnet.
i also have a sonnet and need a replacement one day, but i will go for the x4 one then.

We need to find a supplier for these cards...

i wouldnt be swearing but i think the site only looks dead. try the email form, maybe they answer.
somebody here ordered a card from them about 1-2 years ago using email and credit card. the "shop" was already dead too at that time.
currently unclear is atm. if they would also ship to europe.
