Title: Which cabs are you using?
Post by: Syntho on October 29, 2019, 09:48:24 AM
I've got a Mesa Stiletto 4x12 cab but I've always wanted a Marshall 1960b. The standard 'oversized' Recto cab is a bit scooped than the Stiletto cab, but the Stiletto cab is even still more scooped than a Marshall cab. The Stiletto is also slightly smaller than the standard 'oversized' Mesa cab but I hear people prefer them for recording. The 1960b has a bit more of a bite or higher end than either Mesa cab and it's hard to describe, but that's the sound I'm after.

Anyone have a 1960b they want to outright trade for my Stiletto cab?  :)

I would think that it's a 'buyers' market for 4x12 cabs these days.  Can't go wrong with 1960!;D

FWIW... I just picked a little Marshall 1x12 closed back that I've been using live (the cheaper version that I think they market with their 20ish watt heads) that sounds pretty dang good! It still gives a smaller version closed back 'thunp' but eliminates the big 'woofiness' component that would get hi-passed in a recording anyway... gotta leave SOMETHING for the bass player! ;D
