the column depicting the machines do not directly correlate to the applications
its just a parallel document showing when the machines came out VS when the software came out..
this doesnt mean that u need that specific machine to run this specific app etc
but it helps to see "What was new & current" when this program was designed/created
full chart can be viewed at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AuVRqCVJbeaudDRVaDNnb3FyRUQ0V3NQejZ5YWZqM1E&usp=drive_web#gid=0 but dont click this link on a legacy computer

Awesome job... maybe add Cubase VST 4 to the B&W and repost... or leave it alone as it is noted here
-
actually cubase 4.0 vst 24 is the entry directly above the first line .. i must have made a mistake to not include it in the box i drew for the screengrab.. i was limited by the browser height!
actually the cubase 4 entry coincides with teh beige g3.. it predates the b&w g3 by a few months
my fave pics:
ableton live 4.14
reason 2.5
cubase 5 vst 32
digital performer 3.11 (realy want to learn this one better)
i think im more proficient with reason + live then i am with cubase but i plan on changing that! and getting into the groove with the cubase keyboard commands etc
and would really like to track down some digital performer 3 learning materials...

I use DP3 with G4 OS 9.2 using MOTU 896 + 828 MKII for 16 channels of I/O. Rock solid and super fast at 24/96!!!! Tried OSX mountain Lion-DP8 on a macbook pro 2013. Was OK but I felt that it didn't sound as good even though I was using apogee Rosetta 800! Was a real eye opener for me ::) Much less stable. It really trips me out for sure.

welcome tom! super cool to have you here;) -afro-

To be fair, I should mention that I have dialed in the G4 to be a dedicated DAW i.e. turning off all unrelated extensions, installing an additional firewire buss and an extra internal hard drive. :) Love the feel of OS9 with DP3 though! DP3 is a lot more fun for me than DP8. I should also mention that I don't use MIDI. I track the guitars/drums/etc to tape first then dump to DP3 for editing and maybe a few overdubs in DP3. I then mix out the box though a Toft atb24 mixing console to 1/4" tape or an Alesis Masterlink. I almost never use plug ins; and if I do, maybe one or two at the most.

Right on. Cool site, and it is nice to see that there are others who have appreciation and love for OS9.
