Title: could not find the application document that created [i]x[/i] installer????

I just installed fresh os 9.2 on a recently purcahsed machine.
I am getting the error message "could not find the application document that created x installer"

does anyone know why? this applies to every installer, I do have toast 5.0.2 on the machine, but neither toast or disc copy apps are able to open any installer.

Trying to install cubase, I have a 5.0 installer burned to disc but I am unable to open cubase 5.1 installer due to this error message. I'm baffled.

In case anyone else has this issue,
I was able to resolve it by changing the file permissions on the drive.
