Hi!
It would be nice to get a hold on the last version of Pluggo for Mac OS 9. Seems to be quite a nice package of plugs, and they are Pro Tools (RTAS) compatible as well (awesomeness)!
You can download the demo version, which is like the full version, only with capped playback time (the sound becomes a buzzing sound after a couple of minutes of use). A serial for this would be great as well. Mirroring everything in the downloads section would be nice too, I don't really trust the wayback machine that much.

I've been trying to find Pluggo 3 forever!
Can any members help out?
I used to have a copy on my G3 laptop back in the day. That computer died and I've not had Pluggo since.
-
I found it, and I have it! Where's the FTP, so we can make it avalible to eveyone? It's a 26mb file.
-
for the record Knez was given the ftp information weeks ago, why he never uploaded , i have no idea.. i will try to track it down i was looking for it in october with no success.

System Requirements
pluggo requires:
A PowerPC Mac OS computer with System 8.6 - 9.2. A G3 or G4 processor is recommended. The number of plug-ins you can use simultaneously depends on the processor, its speed, and your available memory.
64 MB or more of memory, althought the exact amount depends on the system version and the host sequencer you're using.
At least 55 MB of hard disk space.
For MAS host applications, MOTU Audio System 2.1 and FreeMIDI 1.42 or later are required. These are not included with the Pluggo installer.
An application that hosts VST, VST 2.0, MAS, or RTAS plug-ins.
- Pro Tools 5.1 or later (pluggo is not compatible with Pro Tools Free, which is based on Pro Tools version 5.0.1.))
- Cubase 4.1 or later
- Digital Performer 2.5 or later (2.7 or later strongly recommended)
- Vision 4.1 or later (version 4.5 automation does not work with Pluggo)
- Logic Audio 4.1.2 or later
- Peak 2.5 or later
- Live 1.1 or later
- Spark 1.1
pluggo does not officially support multiprocessing in host applications when running on a machine with multiple processors. However, it may work for you. If it doesn't, you can disable multiprocessing support in the host application.

Awesome thanks!

Pluggo provides a framework to interface a single, “native Pluggo” plug-in to VST and RTAS standards. In this way, Pluggo is similar to Waves’ Waveshell framework. Unlike some other “wrapper” approaches, Pluggo does not add latency to the audio stream.
This is the last version of Pluggo compatible with the Classic versions of Mac OS.
Tested in my studio on Pro Tools TDM 5.1.3 and in Pro Tools Free 5.0.1. Runs great! Not tested with VST host applications (Cubase etc).

I was pretty stoked that ChrisNova found this!
Unfortunately I'm having no luck authorising it!
I'm installed it on my G4 MDD and G3 iBook running it within Cubase.
Installation isn't a problem... everything goes fine. I can open the plugins in Cubase no problem but do get a reminder that this is an un-authorised demo version.
When you install Pluggo it creates a folder called "Pluggo Stuff" which I think should be on the same drive as the host application. (In this case Cubase VST/32 5.0)
Inside the Pluggo Stuff folder you will find the "Authorise Pluggo" app.
Upon running the authoriser it tells me I need to reinstall pluggo.
I've gone through and deleted everything related to Pluggo including all plugins, prefs, MAX/MSP folder in system folder etc etc and have reinstalled Pluggo again.
Same issue time and time again on both computers.
Any ideas anyone?
Shout out to ChrisNova for his time helping me out with this. Very much appreciated :-)
-
off the bat im thinking perhaps u have to move this app to a differnt location and run it ?
maybe?
-
Yes I was wondering if it was a bit like Waves etc where the folder needs to be inside a certain folder.
Strange though, as I have gone through the installation a few times now, following the onscreen prompts and the manual. Same results on 2 different systems.
-
Came across the same problem and solved it.
Yo must have pluggo v3.00 to register it
then v3.0.4 should work after you have done that -
use the provided serial I think it should work.
Try this one attached: I hope it works
-
great news Jakl! Essexboy will be pleased;D -afro- -afro-
-
Did it work?
-
hey Jakl I havent tested yet i will try to soon. but I just took your word for it;)
-
I have the same problem. I previously had a runtime pluggo, and even tho I removed all traces of previous MAX and Pluggo, I have this feeling there is a stuck, invisible preference file in the preferences folder preventing the authorization operation.
There are a few of these cryptic files in my preferences folder i have no idea who they belong to, but I fear removing them for breaking something else...
I certainly wish I could do without downloading the proposed version, as I have a very slow landline internet connexion.
P.O.

this 3.0.3 installer worked fine for me. serial included.
3.0.4 update:
- worked around a Logic 5 bug that caused crashes when
changing effect presets while playing.
- eliminated all the application's subfolders from the
"search path"--this will speed up the loading of the first
plug-in for Logic users with thousands of folders full
of samples
-
did we ever get 3.0.4 working>?
or should i just install 3.0.3?
-
I'm not having any luck installing these attachments. When I double click them Stuffit launches, then closes shortly after returning me to the finder. I appreciate any help as this is already taking too much of my time just get Pluggo 3.0.4 running in Pro Tools Free 5.0.1. I need to get this sorted so I can get on with making some tunes. PLZ Up a "working" Pluggo 3/3.0.3 that I can install & register! THX!

i can assure you that the uploader (dr. bu) created this .sit on mac os 9.
but if you have the option to do so you might just unpack it from OSX.
also, make sure that your download is complete. with classilla there are known problems.
you might want to answer us the following questions: does your .sit have an stuff it icon? what version of stuff it you use?
we are regulary fighting over and discussing archive formats here, it is not the easiest thing as it seems. :)
-
ok first of all
make sure to install stuffit 7.0.3 (http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php?topic=1280.0)
to ensure no problems with stuffit incompatibilities
after thats installed
if u return to the original web.archive post
and download the file, u will get "pluggo3s.bin"
downloaded..
if u click this file and press applekey/CMD-U (shortcut installed by stuffit 7.0.3)
this should decode the fine from macbinary to be the installer file
which will appear with an icon for the VISE installer
(purple diamond icon)
there are alot of small undocumented things on this site that are
regularly tripping people up.. this is one of them i think that people are unaware that they have to process
these .bin files the same way as they would a stuffit (.sit) file by running stuffit expander, even tho what
stuffit actually ends up doing is not unstuffing but decoding the macbinary format out into a normal mac os file
another thing that can trip some people up is the download links... trying to click "Save as" results in downloadng a 6k
html file rather then attachment.. i do this alot by accident so i know there must be some other people doing this aswell
it would be helpful if this had some reminder not to try to "save as" on the download link
anyway.. let us know how u make out with the pluggo install
-
attached selfmounting image ;D
ok wait - i thought this was the full 3.0.4 pluggo
it seems to be just the demo?
i thought pluggo had been made free at the end of its lifecycle.
perhaps im mistaken.. confusing it for another package
i dont have much experience with pluggo i must admit
i have been meaning to explore the pluggo plugs but havent
is there any list of the top pluggos?
it installs with a base # of plugs that u can download + add to am i right?
how do u differentiate between playable instruments + effects pluggos?
i will test Dr Bu's installer as i have a feeling this is not a demo version
-
Thank You for the clarification! I'm using Google Chrome browser and have been right-clicking "save as" BUT after figuring this out, I downloaded both 3.00 & 3.0.3 installers again, but this time the file sizes were different than the first time I DL'd both files, which added to my confusion as to whether the download was corrupt or not.
I have Pluggo 3.0.4 already installed and working EXCEPT for the same problem as EssexBoy, Pluggo bitches about being a non-authorizable demo. Am I going to need to remove this before reverting to 3.0.3 or 3?
I believe I'm using Stuffit Deluxe 7.0.3 that's in Mac OS System Utilities.
I'll try the selfmounting image and let you know.

yes this is happening to ALOT of people i think. the downloads are not corrupt u are actually downloading pure text html if u try to do "save as" on the link, not the file, but the file linking TO THE FILE! ;)
i have just realized that it needs to be clarified but i didnt want to tell diehard + mactron to edit every single
DOWNLOAD LINK :
to add : (must click link, do not right click and save as or the dl wont work properly)
or some other annotation indicating that if u do this, u end up getting an html file and not the file u need.

yes it is a demo.. the 3.03 file that drbu posted should be the full real deal..
we need to get a confirmed working pluggo posted in the dls
i think the reason we havent is that the admins here think this pluggo is a joke
and not worthy of attention;) lol
but looks can be deceiving ;)

i think the reason we havent is that the admins here think this pluggo is a joke
and not worthy of attention;) lol
Yes, that's my opinion. But it doesn't matter. I'll put a download post if somebody can tell me what's the working file or better upload it into the FTP ...
-
If Pluggo is a joke, what would you recommend as an alternative that will work in Pro Tools Free? ???
-
There is a lot of real and great plugins around there, without needing of using those runtime's... But despite my opinion:
I'll put a download post if somebody can tell me what's the working file ...
But I need some clarifications before to post this in to downloads section, mainly what and where is the working file???
- Pro Tools 5.1 or later (pluggo is not compatible with Pro Tools Free, which is based on Pro Tools version 5.0.1.))
¿?
Any way...
Is this the only plugin set that work in Pro Tools Free?
why? -just curious-
... and may be there is "fix" for pro tools free around here...
-
it has some effects you cant find elsewhere, say like the panners and phasors.
plus it was a bargain back in the days, when i bought pluggo v 2 it was around 50 USD here in germany. waves native powerpack was 1000+)
and some maybe find the crappyness of it inspiring for creative work. i made songs using ONLY "pluggosynth", a simple sawtooth with is not even bandlimited and the filter explodes if you move it too fast, while a real PPG and abunch of rolands were sitting right next to the computer. :D
-
if i posted that info i had read it frm someone else .. ihave never tried to use pluggo with ptfree personally
i must have read that on the digi site or in an article somewhere
**ok i see its in the thread above.. yes that was a cut + paste from another source!
rezxox are u going to be producing with virtual instruments?
pro tools has many rtas instruments for it..
we havent created a master list of which vsti plugins have rtas versions
something that needs to be done by a protools enthusiast here on the site
if u are going to be working with primarily vst instruments
i would suggest installing cubase... and/or ableton live
these are my favourites;) 100% because of the vsti compatibility
logic is also vst compatible on os9 (even tho i forget this easily)
digital performer + pro tools can be used with vsts but there is added complication of working with vstwrappers + shells which may not be somethijng u are willing to tackle
which is why i suggest using one that is 100% vst compatible..
my top choices being:
a)cubase 5.1r1
b)ableton live 4.14
c)logic 4.81
pluggo is compatible with these 3 apps
u can aways export your tracks to wav or aif and reimport into ptfree if compatibility with other pt users is what u are after

rezxox are u going to be producing with virtual instruments?
Please let me explain why I wish to use Pro Tools Free 5.0.1. I read online that PT Free requires a Mac AGP G4 with built-in sound. As it happens, I had one lying around from a University auction purchase. Loaded it up with 1GB RAM and OS 9.2.2. and installed Pro Tools Free 5.0.1. As I mainly use hardware, my thought was that I could use this Mac as a 2-TRk recorder with some cools plugins to process my outboard gear. That's when i found Pluggo 3.0.4 on macintoshgarden.com (http://macintoshgarden.com). Then transfer these audio files to my hardware samplers via Recycle 2.0.
if u are going to be working with primarily vst instruments
i would suggest installing cubase... and/or ableton live
I do use VST's, but on other more capable machines running Live, Reason, etc. I mainly want to utilize this lowly Mac G4 and that is why I chose Pro Tools Free 5.0.1. Since I already have Pluggo 3.0.4 installed and there are A LOT of COOL plugins, I'd like to get this sorted before moving on to other installations. OR, should I just remove pluggo and install WAVES 4.0? I have some other AudioSuite plugins currently working BUT unfortunately these are not realtime (RTAS): Serato Pitch'N'Time, Wave Mechanics Speed. I also read that BombFactory will not work in Pro Tools Free, but I managed to get the LA-2A and 1176 and the MoogerFooger LowPass and RingMod RTAS plugins to show up in the file menu but when I select them they need authorization.
Again, to recap, I mainly want to use PT Free as a 2-TRK (1-TRK MONO) recorder with a lot of useful plugins to process outboard gear (mainly rhythm tracks and samplers).

whats the cpu on the agp g4.. 400mhz? 450mhz? or higher?
i would guess 400 or even 350mhz because u say lowly;) heheh
well i have another agp g4 450mhz here that i could try this out with to help u...
u arent limited to protools free by any means..
u could use any software on the site..
ableton live... digital performer... cubase...
or even an old version of logic...
you have many choices.. there is not right answer
its all personal preference + familiarity.
most will support processing plugins
and recording via the soundmanager 3.5mm input
if u want to use protools by all means use protools..
tbh we dont have anyone here that is using pro tools free to be
your go to person at the moment.. all of our enthusiasts who claim to love
mac os 9 so much in reality use newer versions!
so i might have to help u figure this out myself
i see.. so you plan on jamming live and then going back and sampling your live playing to use in studio production.. smart idea.

Here's mine. I have used these and can confirm that they work. The image has the real installer. The update file I only just now found, I had only a borked copy so was updating to only 3.0.2, but found this while I was sorting through some data yesterday.
I also have that 3.0.2 somewhere here, as well as installers for Pluggo 1 and 2, which I can add for completeness.
