Title: Ibook g3 smelly keyboard
Post by: ProfileName on July 17, 2016, 12:31:03 AM
Hi,
You certainly know about this funky keyboard issue. The adhesive in the back of the key is using a glue that tends to go sour. There is no cure for this ( left it in the open air, cleaned it: no improvement), my question is:
What key would be compatible for remplacement? And no, the ibook g4 key does not fit, its cable being too short.
There,
Good day

Oh the smell of a sweaty gym sock left in a hot car for days.  It's wonderful isn't it? :'(
A key replacement probably won't help.
Did you remove the keyboard entirely to clean it.

The adhesive causing this is on the bottom side of the keyboard holding a label to the metal shield.
I had taken that off of mine and carefully cleaned the metal of all the sticky residue.
It improved it a lot.
