Title: Apple keyboard *New*
Post by: MacTron on May 28, 2016, 09:40:34 AM
A few days ago my old Apple keyboard stopped to work (the upper one in the picture).
I have found a surprisingly well preserved one in eBay (the lower one):

The problem was that this new keyboard was AZERTY instead of QWERTY.

So I have to change a few keys by using reverse engineering alien technology, as usually in MARL:

The QWERTY keys come from a never used "Mac Os X only" Apple keyboard that surprisingly survived a lot of years without been trashed . But Now it's time.

So after pulling up the main keys of the AZERTY Keyboard:

I have replaced them by the QWERTY ones included in the "Mac Os X only" keyboard.
And this is my new QWERTY Apple Keyboard with full Mac Os 9 support !! :

The more I read about MARL the more I love it!

But there is one question left. Where from did you get those two unknown tools? They seem to consist of some new (also alien technology?) metal. That two concave areas at the end seem to fit perfectly to ones thumbs, are those equipped with neurologic sensors? Please tell us more! :-p

Duplication of the original MARL experiment failed here due to "laziness"... too many keys to pull :(

Also, my kids were eating cereal and using the tools.

If you're going to the trouble of physical key movements, why go for QWERTY? You don't need to worry about typewriter jams these days :) Why not use a layout designed for the job at hand, i.e. Dvorak?

I did stick labels on my keyboard when I first learnt it. The only letters in the same place are A & M.
Nowadays if I use someone else's machine, QWERTY is so annoying that I have to change it!

We have to proceed with caution. Despite its familiar look and feel, its full potential and  hazards are fully unknown .

Thanks, that's a great idea. May be the next time ...

using these "spoons" should be patented asap.

here in europe we dont even have spoons (people sill eat their soup using a combination of forks of chopsticks) but using them to replace keyboard pieces is true alien technology.

another question: you removed all keys only because 4 or 5 were on the wrong place? :P
