Title: Noisy Powerbook Titanium

Hello,

I acquired a Powerbook G4 TI 1GHz to run all of my OS9 audio apps once again. The problem is that once those fans come on it's much too noisy to use in my studio.

Any suggestions to quite this Powerbook down?

Make a sweet cleaning job on the fans, one by one.

I am not sure about the lubrication on the center of the fan. I would try lithium (?) lube. It is white and is used for step to step motors like the ones from a Mac 250 from Martin

I would try a new and fresh thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, but maybe it has Pads instead of paste.

Just wait for an actual owner to answer you properly.

Using SSD instead of HDD give a colder laptop.

Folks from MacRumors use a iDE 44 to mSATA and a mSATA drive and it fits in 2.5". 

Also OWC sells a IDE 44 SSD but it cost almost 2X, but it works for sure.

You have to find the best solution for you. DieHard loves the OWC drives, but Knezzen has been using cheaper IDE 40 D.O.M. (disk on module) for months in his Studio with MDD.

There are IDE 44 DOMs, but they have less GBytes.
