Hi,new g4 and new problems...
I try to install a fresh os9.2.2 on my g4 but i have a freeze durin the "startup system",with no mouse control and the only solution is turn off the g4.
i have tried with a bootable cd,and with a drag a drop install from a osx 10.4 working on the same hd.Also with a new hd it freeze.maybe i have to download a specific version of os9 for quicksilvers?

I've found that some machines can be temperamental on a fresh install using 9.2. Try burning a cd with this image http://macintoshgarden.org/sites/macintoshgarden.org/files/apps/Mac_OS_9.0.0.toast__0.zip
Its the first version of 9. Once you install it you can update to 9.2.2

You should read the install instructions. If is a 1.8Ghz G4 it should be a 7447 ( or a 7448 ) so probably you have to remove or patch the Apple CPU plugins and patch the firmware.

to be precise the actual hd have osx and 0s9 installed and full working.to have a fresh install i have formatted the whole hd.now i cant install os9.so the patch you talking about is already installed, without it os9 cant run.at this moment i am trying to install osx 10.2 to make the g4 under controll.

There is one thing you seem to forget. I have a sonnet cpu aswell. I had to flash the mac under osx and install a extension to run os9. Without it you run into issues like that because neither the mac nor os9 or x get much use out of it.

I have had similliar freezes with an older machine I had with a Sonnet CPU upgrade in it. I think you need to run one of these to make it work like it should:

I have to insist:
Did you REMOVED or patched the Apple CPU plugins file inside the Multiprocessing folder (inside extensions folder) ?
:o
