Hi
I have a Powerbook G4 1.5GHz and the battery is dead. I can't find a source for a new battery. Does anyone have steps or know a site outlining step by step instructions for a DIY rebuild?
Many thanks!

Its quite a task to recell them. The only one i heard of doing that is from the uk and known as max1zzz at macintoshgarden.org

Huh? They're all over fleaBay for <20 bucks.

He might not be interested in off brands. Originals can be pricey and used ones could be duds.

Actually, yes I was interested in a new cells. I am hesitant with what is on eBay but I will take a peak. I already know that there are two cells inline but was hoping someone might have a link with photos of the procedure which may or may not contain some gotchas. I never did this so was hoping someone could speak from experience. Well, this post will remain open should anyone have more to advise, until then, thank you all for your points.

This isn't an original apple, but I have several batters from OWC that work fantastic and I've had no issues with over the past 9 years. In fact the first one I got 9 years ago for an iBook that I use almost daily can still run for about 6 hours of use.
Maybe they are out of your price range, but I thought I'd share my experience with them.

Yes, for quality, OWC is the absolute best :)
Usually, the OWC batteries last longer than the original

Hi nanopico
Thanks for the reply but the link is for the removable batteries but I do thank you regardless, and yes DieHard, OWC is the best. I ordered from them once and hope to do more business with them in the future. They are without a doubt a topnotch seller. Love them!
