So I picked up one of these CF card readers...
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Lexar-Professional-FireWire-400-CompactFlash-CF-Card-Reader-IEEE1394a-PC-MAC-/201079241612?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed141bb8c
Had a few questions... (I searched around but couldn't find a manual/ specs)
Is there a card size limit that the reader can use?
What would be the fastest card that would be practical before diminishing returns would set in?
What would be the recommended brand/size/best overall price/ performance ratio card to use?
Thanks...MH

So seeing as this is firewire 400... would a card faster than 50MB/sec provide a speed increase or would it just be wasted??
-
FireWire 400 – 400Mbps (or 50MB/sec)
given that is the upper limit of speed for firewire..
its hard to say. u would have to test + see..
a way to think of it might be to wonder if a faster card would increase seek times?
different compact flash cards are definately slower/faster then others..
its my opinion its very possible that a higher quality CF card may indeed yield faster speeds
given my experience with SD cards + CF cards..my experiments were over IDE ATA connection tho, not firewire.

I've been using this thing lately and I LIKE it!! Might even order another one. ;D
Wound up getting a 32 GB 'Lexar Professional 800x' (UDMA 7) card and it seems to work well.

It's my favorite also (as mentioned in other posts) :)

sure its multiple reloadable SSD via firewire.. whats not to like;)

Good to hear! I've really been lovin' the 'D.A.' (DieHard Approved) model! These things can come in REALLY handy!! ;D ;D
