interesting but i would need a card for my xserve (g4) with driver if needed.

if u want to use SAS hardware the best way to do this would be to use
a pc motherboard running nas4free / freenas from a 8gb usb stick. this will give u compatibility with new macs via SMB
and old macs via netatalk AFP

and u can get the ultimate disk speed by using a motherboard that supports SATA3 (6GBps) speeds
or a SAS controller via PCI-express

this will show u the real potential of gigabit ethernet! when connecting to this system over appletalk chooser from mac os 9
