so i grabbed this off ebay awhile back because its a 64bit card..
which as all of u know by now.. enables a higher thruput on the pci bus max of 266MB/s instead of the usual 133MB/s for a standard short 32bit pci card
im still hunting for drives to use with it..
but whats cool is i could accomplish 2 tasks with the same card.. that is
external scsi connectivity.. + internal recording drive for pro tools or normal drive use
it says on the box this supports up to *30* SCSI devices
and up to 160MB/s SCSI data transfer rate
supporting SCSI-1, SCSI-2, SCSI-3, Ultra SCSI, Ultra2 Wide SCSI and Ultra160 SCSI.
the Acard AEC-67162M - mac bootable for 9 & X http://dl.acard.com/manual/english/aec-67162m.pdf

would this card be usable with ATTO tools + software aswell?
i have no clue about SCSI hard drives.. internal ones. never used em really
another shot:

trying to find some drives for sale to use with this sucker
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/FUJITSU-MAW3300NC-300GB-10K-U320-SCSI-HARD-DRIVE-NEW-/170923360017?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cbd37f11
heres 10k 300gb drives NEW for 79$
does it get better then that? maybe..
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/HP-286716-B22-289044-001-146GB-U320-SCSI-10K-3-5-Hard-Drive-/121596104483?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c4fb14f23
these say u320 tho, is that backward compatible to ultra 160?
here i see 140gb drives for 35$ says NEW aswel
according to this:
http://ask.adaptec.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5178/~/can-an-ultra320-scsi-hard-drive-be-connected-to-the-ultra160-scsi-%2F-raid
the u320 drives can be used with u160 adapters
Yes, most Ultra320 drives are downward compatible to Ultra160 SCSI mode.
The Ultra160 SCSI controller does not however support Ultra320 SCSI drive speeds. Ultra320 drives will work, however only at Ultra160 speed.
does anyone know if the u320 drives take the same pin connector + cable?

You cant mix and match. The amount of drives or devices depends on the devices. Lets say you adapter a narrow drive on the bus is limited in speed and amount of devices.
Narrow and wide scsi is a bad idea. Narrow supports 7 devices on the bus. Btw you better have a terminator at the end or might get a surprise. 1 narrow bus device and your speed goes down the drain.

from what i read in the documentation of my specific card discussed here, is that it can support SCSI-1 + SCSI-2 devices
the cord i dropped an image in of, is neccessary in order to connect this scsi card to the scsi samplers that i have + am interested in such as : roland s760, s2000, s3000XL, MPC2000 etc
