So I just picked up what I believe to be a 2003 MDD 1.25 uni off of eBay ... looks to be in pretty good shape. I've never used the MDD model but I hear a lot about the noise issues. Wondering if the 2003 models are as noisy as the earlier ones??
-
Just a tiny bit quieter - like the difference in going from a cement truck to a diesel bus…
-
Haha.... Kinda figured! ;D was pokin' around here a bit reading up on fan mods, etc.
-
yeah u still want to do the fan modification if u can
i can strongly reccommend the fractal design r2

(you would need 2 of them)
but they are nice + quiet!!
These fans have been specifically developed to deliver significant airflow while maintaining low noise levels. Silent Series R2 fans are available in sizes from 40mm up to 140mm.
ps i have the same make/model ;)

Thanks Chris... I'll check that out!

they seem to be sold out on that site
i saw a video of guy going on about how good these noctua fans are...
they are the premo ferrari deluxe edition fan heheeh
he was like "They arent pretty but they move good amt of air" more then the r2 by fractal with only a bit more noise

Acoustical Noise: 19.3 dB(A)
then theres a good cheap option here by masscool

Acoustical Noise: 28.5 dBA
they seem to be alot louder tho by the ratings (dont get these)
the r2's are the best at 17DBA ;D
try to find them somewhere else

Yup... it's loud alright!! Haha! MDD arrived yesterday ... Chris, I took your advice and ordered a pair of those Fractal fans that you linked. The biggest offenders DO seem to be the power supply fans. Did you change out the others too??

they are good fans! 8)
