Title: Can't get file sharing to start up
Post by: MtnExile on March 30, 2015, 05:34:22 PM
Well, my "new" G4 is up and running well, except for one thing: file sharing simply won't start up.

File sharing on my older G4 will start up, which means my OSX iMac can recognize it across the network and I can exchange files just fine. Another G4 (now at the office) also works just fine when I use it at home: plug in the network cable and off it goes.

But the new Quicksilver 2002 just sits there, stuck on "File Sharing Starting Up..." The computer is connected to the Internet: I can surf around just fine. I just can't get file sharing to start up.

The File Sharing control panel is the exact same version as on the older G4 (both are running 9.2.2). What else is necessary to get this to work?

http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/power-mac-g4-quicksilver-2002-restore-discs

if it was me, i would do a restore with these discs to make sure everything is the right versions for that mac specifically

everything u could possibly need is on that page.. u would have to burn about 5 discs
i happen to have been given the originals with my quicksilver which saved me the trouble

beside the controlpanel filesharing also consists of an extension.
