Title: Moving data from Iomega Jaz Disks to modern media
Post by: rbtunes on February 17, 2015, 11:35:57 AM
Hi All, I would like to get the data from several 1GB Jaz disks onto USB drives or other modern media.  I have three working SCSI Jaz drives, and am considering buying a Mac running OS9 so I can do this.  I have heard that drivers for the Jaz drives are iffy in OSX, as are SCSI/USB connectors with Jaz Drives.  Clearly, I should have kept my old G3 running OS9!  Anyone have any experience doing this, or have a computer with both SCSI and USB?  If all else fails, could connect the drive to an OS9 Mac and burn CD or DVD rom disks.  Any suggestions?  Thanks much!

I run Jaz drives all the time in my studio. I have a Windows 7 machine or two that both have SCSI PCI cards in them. an earlier Mac Pro will also take them as long as it's got a PCI slot. You'll be fine.
