WOW. Double geekbench compared to G4 466! This should be a beast for OS9. My G4 DA with the dual cpu of a QS'02 gave me 990 last time I tested on tiger 10.4.11.Yep, runs like a champ. Still use Photoshop 5 and 7 because of the filters I purchased that don't work in OS X version. Illustrator 10 also runs good. I maintain a spreadsheet of my gas purchase, mpg and other calculations using ClarisWorks from 1994 because the file size in small relative to newer versions and the speed of the app itself. I do game on it, Unreal Tournament GOTY edition, get frame rates ranging from 50 to 80fps depending on the action. Still play Links and Links 2000, too.
im thinkig more and more that the way to go is to use a graphite sawtooth or b&w with an upgraded cpu.. simply for the ability to have it easily convert to an atx Power supply... as time marches on... how long is it before all digitla audio + quicksilvers power supplies die?Our company bought the DA unit new in 2001 and lasted till 2010. On the other hand, the MDD in my office its' power supply lasted one year. The replacement was expensive but it is still working today. Remember the All-in-One G3 that looked a molar tooth that schools used? I bought one from a school for $50, it lasted one year before the power supply literally blew up. Agreed their choice of power supply is a weak point. But that is Apple.
and the mdd? with its specific special power supply.. apple was really stupid to not just use a standard psu ... what a design flaw.
