I want to run OS9 on my PowerBook G4. I currently run OS 10.5.8 on that computer. I need to buy a 10.1-10.4 install disk that will boot up the computer, and will allow me to install the OS9 driver on the disk. There are lots of 10.1-10.4 disks for sale on eBay, many for iMac, PowerMac, etc. computers, but most of those disks will not function on my PowerBook. I can see the Apple part number of the disk for sale (2Z691-......). Does anyone know where I can go to find if that disk part number is compatible with my PowerBook? The Apple support technician I called said Apple does not have that information. Is it true that a "retail" version install disk will work on many different computers, not just an iMac or PowerMac, etc.?
