Title: anyway to partition a drive in half under mac os 9 or 8.6?

is there a way to do this using mac os tools only?
i have never done this using a classic mac os tool..
does drive setup support the creation of partitions?

Hey Chris... just saw this post ... I realize that you know WAY more about this stuff than I but last night while fumbling through this I discovered that you could do this with Drive Setup by booting from the System Software CD... open Drive Setup from the CD... select the drive... select 'custom' ... from there you can select number of/ size of partitions. Is this what you were looking for??

Thats using the os9 CD btw... don't know about 8.6

same with 8.6 you're  using drive setup as the tool of choice. make sure though that when partitioning, you include drivers for os9 for drives handling os9. or 8.6

mrHappy! u are absolutely correct..
i did find this out eventually in between posting that and now. some months ago..
but i did not return to the thread to reupdate my findings..

at least its recorded here now for anyone else searching on how to accomplish that task.

of course this does not work if you are booted up on the same drive
