well i just installed ACARD 6880M inside my powermac g3 on 8.6 os..
it took a few minutes for the os to see where the hard drive was
apple system profiler shows that it cant identify where the ATA driver is :D
but it works! and the speed is much much much improved..
this drive is ata-133 but was connected to the B&W g3's ATA-33 IDE connection
which is very slow.... huge improvement! i think i will backup my os (apple system restore to the rescue)
and format these ide drives and combine 2 for a raid1 or raid0 via the 6880m hardware raid dipswitch
this will take the b&W g3 450mhz to new disk speed heights :D
2x ATA-133 drives will ensure a closer to theoretical max speed of 133mb/s from the 6880m card
i would expect that it at least gives speeds of 70-80mb/s or maybe even 90mb/s with good fast ultradma drives
so what i have here is 100mb/s theoretical improvement over the existing disk i/o!!!!!

even better because of the small hieght of this card putting it in the leftmost pci slot
u can still use the same ide cable to connect the drive!
