Title: Searching for FreeMidi 1.44 installer
Post by: Syntho on September 22, 2014, 07:41:31 PM
https://web.archive.org/web/20000603091938/http://www1.motu.com/english/download/autodown/action.lasso?-database=dldb&-layout=main&-response=searchresults.html&-op=eq&product=FreeMIDI&&-maxRecords=all&-sortfield=version&-sortorder=descending&-search

These downloads aren't working. the filename is fm_1.44.sit.hqx. I can't find the original installer anywhere online.

It is but the standalone installer isn't on the CD. You actually have to enter a serial number and it places an authorization on your HD from installing just FreeMidi since it's a part of Digital Performer. Don't want that authorization happening for my testing.

1.48 has all of that weird USB stuff in it, and according to what I found 1.44 was the last official 68k/PPC version.

im pretty sure they have removed the downloads for those on purpose
http://downloads.motu.com/Other/ReasonFAQ.pdf

this document says that 1.45 and above are compatible to run at the same time as OMS
which would lead you to believe that the opposite does not.. "1.44 may have problems with oms"

here is 1.41

if this freemidi 1.44 is anywhere it should be packaged with digital performer 2.72 update
as far as timeline goes this is what was released (12/1/2000) after the date of the release of freemidi 1.44 (april 2000)
actually wait.. by that time 1.45 was released so maybe not

this freemidi 1.43 should be close enough?

http://www.macmusic.org/links/cat.php/lang/en/id/3087/?lang=en&id=3087&sort=cat
its dated july 2000 on this link
but the link points back to motu.com and theyve removed the file
a shame that macmusic didnt archive it!

i got news for u.. 1.44 has the usb stuff aswell
because 1.41 is labelled MOTU USB INSTALL

here ive attached it again, renamed, uncompressed + encoded to .bin
but if u really want a version that doesnt include any usb
i think this version wil be 1.38
which would explain why motu still has this version posted
on their site still to this day
