Hi there,
my old G4 MDD won´t boot. If I switch the computer on, I can see grey and an apple, then there is onlx black screen. What could it be?
-
a corrupted OSX system folder.
is the screen really black? or is there a insert mark. if yes, try typing "/login" to boot into darwin. you should then either get into OSX or at least get an error message.
i would also remove all PCI cards and reset PRAM.

grab a new 80gb drive at your local store for 20$
and do a clean install

First of all, try reinstalling the OS. If that fails, then think about getting a new hdd.
