i remember reading of this way back in the day about this aphex twin used this to put his face into a track or something? blah blah blah is it just some crap hype to write a useless article about? or is it a usefull thing?

and what about watering cans? are watering cans cool? should i get one? :D
for me its a must have. unfortunately only with 16 bit on OS9 – but with several unique approches and possibilities.

The U&I apps are very deep and well thought out. But they represent a way of working which many aren't used to. I think that composing entire works in NRT takes a bit more discipline than most can imagine. It's not the immediate gratification of running loops and tweaking VSTi knobs, for instance. Also, the programs are meant to be used together, you can pipe images from Artmatic into Metasynth, images from Metasynth into Xx sequences.
Of course, many people probably use it as a novelty to sonify some picture and never use it in depth.

funny that you say that (way of working)
IMO v-track is the perfect video editor for someone coming from DAWs, because its structure is very close to music sequencers.
i used all of their apps but videodelic ... this is too "live" for my taste and does not fit into my workflow. :)
