Title: Recommended DAW for Tiger
Post by: zerohour on July 04, 2016, 06:50:10 PM
To be honest I probably don't need a fully fledged DAW for what I am doing but I want to edit a podcast.

Now I am sure I could use something like GarageBand but I want to add some compression to mix.

Is there a program I could find that would work with a G4 to include VST use.

If I was editing a podcast in Tiger I would probably use a decent audio editor which hosts effects, such as Spark or Amadeus.

There are podcasters using Amedeus and they like it. I use it and I seriously recommend it.

You can download ver. 1.5.5 for free from the website hairersoft.com. It will run very well on 10.4

u could try Cubase LE4 (which is basically like a "Cubasis SX3" updated a bit to 2005ish standards)
i think i read that this installer works without a previous install :
it appears to be a fix/patch for LE4 to work with snow leopard.. but this app was originally intended for Tiger so should work?

ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cubase_LE_4/4.1.3.853/Mac/Cubase_LE_4.1.3.853_SL_hotfix.dmg
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cubase_LE_4/4.1.3.853/Cubase_LE_4.1.3.853_Version_History.pdf
ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cubase_LE_4/4.1.2.851/New_Features_Cubase_LE_4.1.2.pdf

if that doesnt work i know you can find mac os X 10.4 compatible version of "Cubase LE 1.08"
its actually a really good fit for a g4.. loads fast + works fast on a g4.

I will give the Cubase a try ... Was using Amadeus for a little while.   got to do some rerecording of some of the audio first before I get truly under way.  I realy should get a mixer.
