I know, nobody writes the OS like that, but I'm lazy.
Does anyone know about a good IRC client and server app?

Go-to option seems to be ircle: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/ircle
What appears to be lesser alternatives are ShadowIRC: https://sourceforge.net/projects/shadowirc/files/
And MacIRC: http://www.emaculation.com/basilisk/MacIRC_68K.sit.hqx (Is there a more up-to-date PPC version of this?)
And Homer: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/homer-094
And CHOCOA: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/chocoa
And smIRCle: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/smircle
There may be more. I think all of these are client-only, though? Not sure about server options for Mac OS 9.2.2.

Thanks, I'll look into it.

In my opinion Snak is the best. It has a tabbed interface which is super handy.
