It seems that I am the first to realize this...
I installed
http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic,2109.0.html
on my iBook G3, but it seems it was created from a desktop machine because the Trackpad extension simply isn't present. How can I get it there?

You can adjust the trackpad settings via the Mouse Control Panel
(notice icons in attached example)… OR acquire original install disks
for your specific iBook - but I’m uncertain that Trackpad extension /
control panel is even there under OS 9.
UPDATE:
Trackpad control panel is there with Apple OS 9.0 retail install disk.
Just did a quick install and then rebooted into OS 9.2.2 and drug
the control panel from 9 to 9.2.2 and it doesn’t seem to mind.
CP attached.
*Apple updates for 9.1 & 9.2 may install a later version
over the v7.5.7 attached here below. ::)
AND yes, beginning with Apple-sourced OS 9.1 update,
Trackpad control panel goes from v7.5.7 to v9.0.4
(with no further changes under OS 9.2.1 or OS 9.2.2).

Thank you so much! As usual, I figured it out after I posted the question on the forum...
I needed to turn on tap to click so I really needed this control panel.
After reading Mac OS9 The Missing Manual, things started to click in my head. I realized that to a Mac, these control panels which I thought were special were actually just files. Then I remembered I had a Pismo with someone's German 10.4 installation and Classic on it, so I thought I'd just copy it over. Mine said 9.0.4 and the text was in German, but it worked!

Intead of doing a quick install, I prefer to use TomeViewer to dig out files from MacOS installs. :)
