Title: M Mini / WiFi
Post by: FBz on April 15, 2020, 07:22:42 PM
Anyone use one of these? Found a Mini here W/O WiFi or Bluetooth
and rather than chase down original bits and pieces thought maybe
I'd try one of these. [I know, robs you of a valued USB port.] ::)

I have one. The drivers are oddly done, but it works in a pinch. Right now I'm using an access point connected to my wireless network and hooked up to the Mini via Ethernet. It works well in a pinch, but if you have a spare access point and a way to connect it to your network (mine is an AirPort Express) I'd recommend that instead.

But it works well (the drivers act a bit odd in Tiger from my memory, but I don't remember exactly what) :)

Thanks Europa! Site search results here from IIO’s previous post:

noted some problems with “little red wifi usb dongle”.
I may give one a try eventually, but for now -
probably just stick with ethernet. Thanks.

the low power of USB 1.1. is a story for itself. i have no clue how much such an antenna for within the same room will require, but together with mouse and keyboard it could easily be more than 500mA.
