heres is v1.0 for macs os 9.2 ;)
Sonic Reality's Sonic Synth comes on three CD-ROMs and is based around a library of sounds for IK Multimedia's Sampletank virtual instrument, but to offer the user a complete package, a Sampletank LE player is included. The idea is that instead of presenting a themed set of samples, Sonic Synth offers the same type of sound palette you'd expect from a high-end workstation synth. At the same time, it can take advantage of the high RAM capacity of modern computers to provide longer and/or more generously multisampled sounds than you'd get from a ROM-based instrument. All the sounds are categorised into sections such as pianos, guitars, drums, basses, orchestral and ethnic instruments, pads, leads and so on, and in each case, the panel control settings of Sampletank are optimised for the patch in question, with effects added as needed.
Sonic Synth is VST- and MAS-compatible (RTAS- and DirectX-compatible versions are due soon) and it has most of the features of Sampletank XL, excluding that program's Akai sample import feature and sound library. The player can operate on up to four MIDI channels (one stereo output per plug-in) and up to eight Sonic Synths can be run at once.
No minimum spec was provided with my review copy, but based on using it, I would suggest that you need 256MB of free RAM and at least a G3 or Pentium PIII PC. Up to 128-note polyphony (CPU power permitting) is supported and up to four effects per plug-in instance can be selected. Because the playback engine is a version of Sampletank, other Sampletank-compatible libraries can be used to extend the soundset, and at the time of writing (mid-September 2002), the S

I'm a bit confused:
sonik synth
sonic synth
Seems to be similar but may be they are a different product?
I'm testing sonic synth right now. Supposedly Sampletank LE is included. But I can't find it nowhere ...

I have the entire Sonic Synth set... think they are all for Sample Tank... I can Adrive if needed
-
the one with k ("sonik") is the same content, but as extra plug-i– and OSX only. i think it was called "2.0", too. :)

Sonic Reality's new Sampletank-format library comes with a free player.
seems to be originally made by a 3rd party company "Sonic reality" which uses"ik multimedia"'s sampletank format..
maybe after the first release they sold the idea to ik multimedia or it was bought??
maybe that why the K? under ik multimedia ownership?
either way..
one is sonic reality sonic synth
the other is ik multimedia sonik synth

any chance of this showing up in the downloads?

trying to pin down when sonik synth first was released.. seems maybe early 2005??
http://web.archive.org/web/20041210062435/http://www.sampletank.com/prod_SC.html name probably originated from these sampletank expansion libraries
looks like they still sell it too
http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/soniksynth/
looks like its a joint venture between ik multimedia + the sonic reality company
https://www.sonicreality.com/
they are still pimpin the sampletank sound libraries too

seems i was way off.. and it actually dates back to 2001 according to this page:
http://web.archive.org/web/20020812021957/http://www.ilio.com/namm/synth.html
http://www.kvraudio.com/a-jan01.php
this page claims that sonik synth is based on sample playback engine of Unity DS-1 by Bitheadz????? never heard that one before .. that kind of dates it back to 1998 then doesnt it?

The set I have consists of 4CDs...
All are labeled "Sonic Synth" and dated 2001 Factory CDs

id say its the same product.. but two different companies!
except i think it was named sonic by "Sonic reality" company
and the same product was rebranded to be "Sonik Synth" i think by "iK multimedia" making it matching their brand a bit more i guess by using the K instead of the C?

is this plugin developed by the same people that did the sonic reality refills for reason?

i see people like this... i like to believe that theres lots of good people like this that are the real pillars holding up the underlying infrastructure of everything
There are good people. Even you were.
You were a hero for me for some very good things you have done for us, but later acted unpolite with notable members multiple times, aside when you tried to nuke our database...
Diehard allways forgive your sins and I am noone to ban you, so, please, be nice and you will allways be welcome.

OK guys, don't ask me for kisses. ::) Let's go to work ...
So, May be the Sonik Synth 2.0 works with Sampletank 2.0...
It's a pity that Sampletank 2.0 is so unstable...
