I've received a LOT of assistance in getting OS9 working on a couple of Minis and a G4 iMac. Grateful to the knowledgeable and patient folks here who put up with my ignorance and helped me anyway.

Most, the majority, of the posts I've read were civil and generous. A few weren't. Other forums I've joined over the years, mostly about motorcycling, were quick to kick people off if someone pushed too far with attitude or word choice or tone. I urge you to adopt a similar approach. First offense, warn and close account for seven days. Second offense, remove from the forum.

We're all adults here, at least chronologically. I don't think it's too much to require us to act like adults. If I refuse to be adult, i.e. civil, boot me.

On another topic: I would love to learn how folks are using OS9 for daily tasks. (Not music, a world about which I am ignorant.) Writing. Scheduling. Shared calendars. Using the internet safely from OS9. Networking. And so on. Think "Office setting."

My goal is have my G4 iMac, a Windows box, and an newish MacBook working together enough that I can, for example, change a calendar event on one and have it update on the others. That's OS9, Windows 11 and OS X all playing well together. Being civil, you might say.

You asked. There's a start on my answer.

Thanks for asking and thanks for taking on this whole delightful mess!

Yet another fine example of Protools5LEGuy’s commitment and contributions.
And he’s only been around here since December of 2013.

Thanks for the heart melting words.

Now there’s a memory for you (and I can’t remember what I did two days ago).

I am on the same boat!

Yet another fine example of Protools5LEGuy’s commitment and contributions.
...
Perseverance and positivity. Resourcefulness.
And not a… nattering nabob of negativity.

Probably an effect of MacTron, Chris and DieHard moderating my comments at first.

Believe me, I have my dark side as we all. I wish to be as you describe me in real life. I can be a pretentious MF if the subject really touch me.

Digging around in the Forum stats, accessible here via a [More Stats] click, (noted at the bottom of the opening page) reveals that the mostly quiet and unassuming Protools5LEGuy definitely warrants recognition for his long-standing and on-going Forum contributions. Best way to get to know someone here is to read their back history of posts. Protools5LEGuy has always been most selfless, helpful and vigilant.

I was here online checking posts from DieHard, MacTron, IIO, Knez, GaryN and SuperNova before been Moderator and crashed on subjects with them and most users here. I have been lectured by everyone of them and since that tried my best behaviour, not always achieving it.

It was such a titanic effort to moderate me that they all surrender and gave me Moderator status!   ;D

Later I was put in charge to sort and condense info available, including having all Supernova posts fresh on memory and tried my best.  That is why I have spent ALL that time in forum. Putting the lines among that constelation of posts was something I could not do today.  :(  No regrets, but a good effort. I am sure Lives! users are gratefull to the full team.

So of course, the ‘nefarious’ IIO heads the list of Top 10 Posters.

Then on to the Topic Starters. Protools5LEGuy, second again…
just below MacOS9Lives.com (DieHard’s ol’ administrative ID.)

And finally, Most Time Online. Protools5LEGuy is el Numero Uno.

Found this to be interesting - even as there’s no accounting for
actual content… those familiar with Protools5LEGuy’s postings
know he deserves both praise & accolades for his time & effort.
Certainly a serious bit of recognition here is definitely in order.

And once again, mucho kudos to Protools5LEGuy.

HUGE thanks indeed - from us all!

And please everyone, don’t just read this and allow it to be buried
under other posts. Instead, leave a comment of appreciation
in support of Protools5LEGuy. He deserves at least that!

As there’s currently no more “like” button.☹️

Thank you again.
Thanks PT5LEG ;p

Thanks DrNo ;p

instead of raising our own online time we should rather attract new members.

(and in my case, finally fix my G4 dino park)

Screenshots are from OS9.
Just like these and they dont include the MIO algorith...

Or maybe it is only for 1.2 to not include MIO, only Smooth, Warm and Fast.

I am offuscated with the MIO thing  ;D

Storage / Compatible SD-card reader

I just wanted to report, that the: "DIGITUS USB 2.0 multi card reader Product number: DA-70310-3" is compatible with Mac OS 9. I stumbled across it, as my local dealer claimed it is USB 1.1 compatible (as the manual does, but not any advertizments), and so I gave it  try. It was 10 bucks, an is working without any issues. Nice to have even SDXC available as clean USB massstorage at 1.1 busses (something that nearly every mobile phone manufacturer is failing for example).

So a non-issue.
Maybe. Just "don't look up". ;)

Well, observations are just that. Observations. I'm curious to why it would be an issue. We have 3 or 4 new users on this forum every day or so, none of which are posting. So my observations are quite factual as well, I'd say ;)

And I appreciate your input, don't get me wrong. I'm just disagreeing on your "it's either this or that" conclusion, that's all.
