Title: 9.2.2 Format & Drag - what do I do next? - SOLVED
Post by: Mardeec on December 24, 2015, 09:30:17 AM
Edit 12/25/15 - I was able to use the Mac OS 9.2.2 Universal Install - ISO CD Image.

This iMac doesn't have a CD-RW drive, and I don't have another Mac with a CD-RW, so I had to use TransMac to burn the CD on Windows.  Took several attempts until I discovered the "use alternate burning method" option.  Once I had a good CD, the install was smooth and easy.  DieHard, thank you so much for making this available!

I've downloaded "Mac OS 9.2.2 Universal (Just Format & Drag files to Install) - Self Extracting" to my iMac G3, 500mhz, Summer 2000, 10.2.8.  What do I do next?   Here's what shows on my desktop:

-Untitled - startup disk
-freshDragInstall.img.sitx
-frshDrag.img
-frshDrag (sort of an external drive icon)

My goal is to run OS 9.  I don't need to retain 10.2.8.

I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I'm new to Macs and haven't been able to figure out the next step.  Thanks for any help you can give.

Marty

Thanks Marty (and DieHard of course), using TransMac I finally managed to make a bootable CD of 9.2.2 as well.
